Crib Sheet

Hey guys! I finally started on my baby bedding last night. I didn't get a lot done, but I did get my crib sheet made and put on the bed.

I used the Michael Miller tutorial found here www.michaelmillerfabrics.com/blog/Fitted_Crib_Sheet_Tutorial.pdf. I like this tutorial because it uses the french seams on the corners so you don't have any raw edges exposed. It turned out pretty well, but I would strongly suggest a few alterations.

First - All the tutorials I found were for 45" fabrics. I recommend using 60". The sheet I made just barely covers the mattress on the sides, but I have a thicker mattress (6" thick). If you have a thinner mattress then the 45" should be fine. I just like for the sheet to fully cover the mattress and tuck underneath a bit.

Second - I would put elastic all the way around the sheet instead of just the two short ends. That way you aren't left with puckers in the middle that you are trying to smooth out when you are 23 weeks pregnant and the top rail of the crib is hitting you mid-stomach.

Third - If you have a thicker mattress like mine then I would cut 9" squares out of the corners instead of 8". It will fit over the corners better and help pull the sides tighter.

I will make another crib sheet in the near future using the alterations I suggested. I will even take pictures of my progress instead of just the finished product. Next I plan on working on the crib skirt. I will take progress photos because I am going to try to make that on my own.

In case you haven't noticed, I am revealing my fabric choices to you a little at a time. I started with the blandest (Quilters Cotton Solids in Saffron) and will end with the brightest (the bumpers). I hope to have some more for you in the next few days.

Baby projects

Good Morning everyone! In case you haven't heard I am having a little girl. We are all very excited about this. So, me and my sis are getting together this weekend to pick out fabrics for her nursery. I bought a pattern but I couldn't find any fabrics I loved. Probably because I didn't have my awesome sister with me to give that very needed second opinion. So we are meeting up in the middle and I hope to have the materials needed to get started on the fantastic nursery I have planned. I will take pictures of the projects I work on so you can see how everything turns out. Hopefully by this time next week I will have pictures to share. Have a wonderful week and keep your fingers crossed that I find fabrics I just cannot live without.

I know we haven't posted in awhile, but I wanted to drop a few lines just to say "What's Up?". I am not working on any projects really, but I did start working on my afghany blanket again. I grew discouraged after working on it for a VERY long time and it still wasn't finished. It is my own fault for making it so big. I am not working on it consistently, just a few lines here and there when I have time.

I find out what I am having in about 3 weeks and I expects the projects to start back up then. I mean I have a nursery to get ready, a blanket or three to make, a few outfits to make, and any other stuff I see that I must have. I have been holding off until I know what the sex is so I can pick a color scheme. I am torn between soft cottage chic for a girl or big bold bright colors. To be honest, I haven't been giving much thought to the nursery if I have a boy. They aren't as much fun to decorate and dress up. Boy's stuff is so much plainer. I love the bold and frilly stuff you can do for a girl and get away with it. I know my sis will also be thrilled if I have a girl. She has seen enough boy stuff to last her a lifetime.

Sorry I don't have any pictures to share. I will take photos of the projects I am working on when I start in about three weeks.

Have a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day!

Long hiatus

I know it has been a really long time since I have posted. I hope you don't think that I have forgotten or given up on this blog. Truth is, I have been a bit tired and lacking motivation. In order to make it up to you I have posted a picture that explains my absence. I hope you don't mind that I cheated a bit because I didnt actually take the picture.

This is my new peanut. I know it is hard to tell in the grainy photo, but this is the best looking kid ever. The smartest too, but I am a little biased.

I have made it through my first trimester and I think it is safe to share my news now. I hope you can forgive my silence and I look forward to having a new awesome subject for my photography.

OZZY!!!!!

Happy Wednesday!!! Hope everyone is having a GREAT week. So far it has been really fast for me-Fingers crossed that it doesn't slow down :)
Last Thursday we went and saw Ozzy Osbourne in concert. So I thought that I would share.
My older son's friend won two free tickets and his family had already bought tickets for them to go, so they gave their free tickets to us for FREE!!!

I have wanted to see Ozzy since I was in 8th grade but there was always a reason or an excuse as to why I couldn't go. Free tickets-I figured that was a sign that I really needed to go :) So we went to Dallas to the American Airlines Center.

I am not too familiar with Dallas so I was alittle bit nervous. I had printed out a few different maps in case I got lost and had GPS for backup. Anyways- everything started out great it was the ending that wasn't so awesome. We get to Dallas, we see the building that we need to be at but I miss my road and for the life of me cannot figure out how to get to this building. The GPS starts going crazy telling me to turn where there are no roads to turn on. So I am starting to freak out alittle and I am arguing with the GPS. My son very calmly figures out where we need to go and all is fine :) Bless his heart for having such a nutty mom like me :)
We had a few hours to kill before the concert started so we walked around downtown and took pictures.

I have been to many concerts in my life and I have to say that this one was my all time favorite. I do not know if it was because the show was really great or if it is because I have wanted to see Ozzy in concert for so long. Whatever the reason-I did NOT want it to end.
Slash from Guns and Roses opened for him. Which was pretty impressive-Isn't Slash old? He was jumping around and was totally full of energy.

We didn't have to wait long for Ozzy to come on next. His show started with a short movie of him in different skits. It was really funny-I am sure that if you wanted you could find it on youtube. He performed for almost two hours and I loved every minute of it. He played new stuff, he played old stuff-He played Black Sabbath stuff. It was truly a great mixture of everything. I am really glad that we decided to go.
Anyway-enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend. The nephews are turning one and having their party so that is where we will be. It is so hard to believe that it has already been a year-Kids grow up way too fast.
Oh Yeah-I found this really awesome blog yesterday that I wanted to share-http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=12079
This has any kind of craft that you could possibly want to do, you should totally check it out.
Until next time :)
